Registration:

Q:        Why do I have to register?

A:        Registration is required to ensure that an equal number of both sexes are present.

Q:        How far in advance do I have to register?

A:        We encourage each person to register immediately after receiving notification of an event that they would like to attend.  Each attendee is placed on a first come first serve basis and late registration does not guarantee participation.

Q:        Can I register at the event or in person?

A:        Registration is required in advance.  However if someone fails to show up then a person who wants to register on site may participate if it restores an equal amount of men and women.

Q:        How much is registration?

A:        The registration fee is $30.00; this is only refundable if the facilitator cancels the event.

Q:       Why does my email say that I am on a waiting list after I registered?

A:       Each person is put on a waiting list until we have received an equal number of attendees for both sexes.  Once and equal number has been reached you will receive a confirmation email.

If you do not receive a confirmation email for an event and you are still on the waiting list, then you will not be charged the registration fee.  However you may select to attend the next KC Speed Dating event and would be selected to the head of the waiting list.

Q:        I am on the waiting list and the event is tonight should I attend?

A:        You may attend the event however you will only be able to participate if someone does not show and your participation restores the equal amount to both sexes.

Event:

Q:        What should I wear to the event?

A:            This is up to you however, we recommend that you wear something that makes you feel comfortable and/or stylish for the type of setting where the event is being held.  Excellent hygiene, of course, is at least as important as clothing when making first impressions.

Q:        How many people will attend?

A:        The number of people that attends differs on each event, normally we have 20-60 people for each age group.

Q:        What time should I show up?

A:           We encourage all participants to show up at least 20 minutes early, this allows guest to socialize and enjoy refreshment and appetizers.  At the start of each event we try to have someone for each participant to talk to.  We reserve the right to replace late participant with “walk-ins” if available. Otherwise we will do our best to fit you into the event when you arrive. However, if we do replace you we do not offer refunds for those who arrive late, because late arrivals detract from the event. Please leave early enough to arrive on time!

Q:        How do I know if there is still room at the event?

A:        The website will list if an events registration is still open, open registration means that you still register for that particular event.

Q:       What should I talk about?

A:           Remember your conversation is about establishing rapport, not telling them your resume.  Most importantly enjoy yourself, relax, smile, and have fun! Just have an enjoyable conversation and there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy meeting again!  Here are some topics to easily fill a conversation:

  1. Where are you from?

  2. What kind of work do you do?

  3. Do you have any brothers and sisters?

  4. What kind of sports do you like?

  5. Do you have any hobbies?

  6. What’s the best trip you’ve ever taken? Where would you like to go next?

  7. Do you like to keep up with current events? What do you think about (pick a news item)?

  8. Have you seen any good movies lately? What’s the best movie you saw last year?

Q:        Can I leave the dating event early?

A:           If you are confirmed to attend, you are expected to stay for the duration of the event. If you leave early, this will create an unequal number of participants and many people will be without a date! Also, this creates unnecessary work for the Event Organizer as he or she tries to mitigate the effects of your early departure. If you know you might have to leave the dating event early, you should cancel your registration. If you must leave the event early due to an emergency, make sure the Event Organizer knows that you will be leaving.

Q:       I am separated but not yet divorced. Can I participate?

A:           KC Speed dating is all about events that help people meet other people. If you are looking to meet people, you are welcome to attend. Just be forewarned that not everyone will feel comfortable with your situation, so be aware of this.

Q:        Why do some of your events have different age ranges for men and women?

A:        Our research indicates that most women are comfortable with meeting men who are a few years older than themselves, whereas most men want to meet younger women.  Our age ranges are a valid representation of average preferences. Our goal is to maximize the chance that anyone who attends our events will receive a match (i.e. mutual interest), so we encourage people to attend events in their age group. At the same time, we don’t check ages at the door, so if you think the majority of people you’re likely to meet will be happy to date someone your age, then you’re welcome to sign up for whichever events you want. This results in larger events with more people to meet, which is more fun and productive for all the participants.

 Fees:

Q:        Can I get a refund?

A:         Refunds are only given if an event has been canceled

             by KC Speed Dating.

If you have registered for an event, your credit card has been charged unless you paid with a coupon or special offer. As explicitly explained in our registration process, we do not offer refunds once we have e-mailed a Confirmation. Refunds are not given because cancellations make uneven numbers and detract from the events by resulting in people sitting alone during each round of dating and denying individuals from meeting people.

Please, if you know you are not able to attend, contact us at register@kcspeeddating.com. This will allow us to attempt to find a replacement so that the people you were assigned to meet will not have to sit alone.

If the event has been canceled, then you will be contact by a KC Speed Dating representative.  You can have the option to receive a refund or attend the next event that meets your preference.

All REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED BY CHECK FORM, please allow 3-5 business days to receive.

Also remember, if you attend an event and don't meet someone who you would like to see again, your next event is free (limit one per paid event)!
